When NetherRealm announced the original Injustice they were right off the heels of the rebooted Mortal Kombat (MK9 for Xbox 360 and PS3) and a few years removed from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. The premise of Injustice was simple; make a DC Comics based fighting game with the goal of putting it in the same space as Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter and MK. While MK9 gave people hope, MK vs DC did not. April 2013 came and went and Injustice was a critically acclaimed success, sporting a comic book worthy story mode, a prequel comic (which just finished), many DLC packs and a stunt at EVO. NetherRealm had struck gold with their new DC partnership and many wondered what would be next.
E3 2016 started with a bang and in the midst of many announcements for games coming in 2017, NetherRealm dropped the trailer for Injustice 2. The trailer for Injustice 2 not only shows more heroes punching each other in the face but looks to continue the story from the first Injustice. Along with your classic cast of Batman, Superman, The Flash and Aquaman; new comers Gorilla Grodd, Supergirl and the Red Lantern Atrocitus will be joining the fray. Injustice 2 will also sport a fancy new loot systems. You earn this loot by fighting, the more you fight, the more you earn. This loot system allows for players to customize their main characters in different ways which will see your Batman play different from another players. NetherRealm would not comment on how many different modification options there are but they seem to be hinting at quite a bit. NetherRealm will also be using the GGPO net code they used for Mortal Kombat XL, meaning the online multiplayer will get exponentially better than the first Injustice.
Injustice 2 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One with no plans for PC at this time. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated on any new Injustice 2 news.
